Frida Kahlo began to paint in 1925 at age 18 while recovering from a streetcar accident that left her with many severe injuries. Throughout her lifetime, Frida never displayed her wounds directly ~ be it the physical wounds caused by accidents or illness, or her psychological inner wounds. Hers was a symbolic language, rich in metaphors drawn from Aztec myths of creation, Far Eastern and Classical Greek mythology, and popular Catholic beliefs. Her work also chronicles her turbulent yet loving relationship with her husband, mural artist Diego Rivera. Frida was a woman of bravery, whit, charm and passion ~ exotic, colorful, and enigmatic! Come discover all of these, and more!
